Air Vice Marshal Amir Munir was commissioned in General Duty (Pilot) Branch of Pakistan Air Force in December, 1993. He is an accomplished pilot and a qualified flying instructor. He is a graduate of Pakistan Air Force Air War College (AWC) Karachi, National Defence University, Islamabad and Command & Staff College Malaysia. He holds Master's Degree in Strategic & War Studies and M.Phil Degree in Public Policy & Strategic Security Management. During his illustrious career, he remained on various Operational, Command, Staff and Instructional appointments. He has commanded an Operational Unit, a Flying Wing and an Operational PAF Base. He has served as a Director of Air Transport Operations at Air Headquarters, Islamabad. He has also served as a Flying Instructor at Pakistan Air Force Academy and an Instructor at Pakistan Air Force War College & Directing Staff at National Defence University, Islamabad. He is presently serving as Chief Instructor Allied Officer's Division at National Defence University, Islamabad. He is an avid golfer and a keen reader. Air Vice Marshal is married and is blessed with a daughter and a son.
