The National Security and War Course (NSWC) is crafted to enhance understanding of the
participants about national security, encompassing the intricate linkage between various
elements of national power, military strategies and operational art. The Institute of
Strategic
Studies, Research and Analysis (ISSRA) as a globally recognized think tank stands as a

Relations, Leadership and Management Studies, Strategic Studies, Government & Public
Policy

Government & Public Policy program prepares students for careers in policy analysis, program evaluation, management and planning. The curriculum provides a foundation in subjects ranging from elements of public policy and its relevance in efficient governance; decision-making processes and specific analytic tools and concepts of economic theory and statistical modeling.
Department of Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS) was established in September 2008 with the aim to pass on existing knowledge to undergrad and graduate students and to conduct research on challenging questions of our times. Peace and Conflict Studies is an interdisciplinary field of social science, and it mainly focuses on the study and analysis of both violent and nonviolent conflicts
Strategic Studies (SS) is a specialized field centered on the study of strategies, often devoting special attention to the relationship between international politics, geo-strategy, international diplomacy, international geo-economics, and military power. It focuses on various strategic and military dimensions. The Department of Strategic Studies is one of the leading departments in Pakistan with its emphasis on broader contours of strategic studies, including that of Nuclear Studies, War, Conflict, International Security, spaceweapons, net-centric warfare and GeoStrategy.
The Department of IR at Faculty of Contemporary Studies, National Defence University is one of the leading departments of the disciplines in Pakistan. It is committed to provide state of the art learning environment through high quality teaching, interdisciplinary approaches, modern techniques of sharing knowledge, and external collaborations.
The department of LMS is dedicated to create intellectual stimulus and opportunities to impart quality education in Leadership and Management Studies. The programs offered by the department enable students to develop understanding of elements of leadership, management studies, Disaster and Risk Management and Project Management.
Economics The Department of Economics is a cornerstone of the Faculty of Cotemporary Studies (FCS). The Department typically offers a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs focusing on the study of how individuals, businesses, and governments make choices in the face of scarcity. The strength of the department lies in its teaching philosophy deeply rooted in a harmonious blend of theory and practical application. To this end, the department aims to equip students with analytical skills, knowledge of economic theories, and practical experience in research and analysis enabling them to address complex real-world economic challenges.
To enable participants to develop a comprehensive understanding of national security, elements of national power, military, nuclear and operational strategies within the framework of contemporary security environment and prepare leaders for higher command and staff assignments in military as well as other government departments.
Enable participants to comprehend the importance of media as an Element of National Power in pursuit of national interest. The aim of the workshop is to enhance the awareness of representatives of the media for their constructive role in advancing the national interests of Pakistan.
NDU provides a platform for participants from various segments of society to discuss and comprehend the dynamics of the national security of Pakistan. The scope of the workshop is to study evolving dimensions of international, regional and domestic environment, identify drivers of change and understand the impact of different policy initiatives on the security of Pakistan.
The Command and Leadership Programme (CLP) is organized for newly approved/ promoted two-star officers from tri-services. The aim of this program is to enhance awareness of newly promoted senior military officers for higher command and staff assignments.
The International Workshop for Leadership and Security provides a shared understanding and perspective of present and future challenges of the region and a comprehensive regional security framework. The discourse includes various dynamics of decision- making, including governance, economy and security, for enhanced regional integration and cooperation.
FLP, an E-learning based program, is designed to be accessible, progressive and structured to initiate theent foundational learning process for the participants selected to undertake high-end learning. It covers selected modules with focus on foundational subjects to enable participants to focus on advance concepts with more time for reflection during NSWC.
